Host Canada to play Czechs in quarter-finals

The 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship continues on 2nd January with the quarter-finals and the relegation round.

With the conclusion of the Preliminary Round in Montreal and Toronto the quarter-final pairings have been determined. After a day off on New Year’s Day, the tournament continues with two quarter-final games in Toronto and two quarter-final match-ups in Montreal. As previously determined in the approved game schedule, host Canada will play its quarter-final game on Monday evening in Montreal.

The best-of-three Relegation Round between Finland and Latvia will be played in Montreal. The winner of the series qualifies for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, USA, the loser will be relegated. The team promoted for Buffalo is Belarus.

In Montreal:
Sweden vs. Slovakia 15:30
Canada vs. Czech Republic 20:00

In Toronto:
Denmark vs. Russia 13:00
USA vs. Switzerland 17:30

Semi-Finals on 3rd January 2017 (in Montreal)

Sweden/Slovakia vs. Canada/Czech Republic
USA/Switzerland vs. Denmark/Russia

Relegation Round (in Montreal, best-of-three)

2 January, 11:00: Finland vs. Latvia
3 January, 17:30: Latvia vs. Finland
5 January, 11:00: Finland vs. Latvia (if needed)
